According to research, the most costly states in Nigeria to reside in are Enugu, Kebbi, and Niger.

This was revealed by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its April Consumer Price Index (CPI), which was made public on Thursday.

Enugu State has the highest headline inflation on an annual basis, at 35.98 percent, according to the April CPI. Kebbi comes in second with 35.13 percent, while Niger comes in third with 34.85 percent.

This demonstrated that over the reviewed period, the core inflation rate increased at the fastest rates in all three states.

Conversely, the states with the lowest headline inflation increases on an annual basis were Ondo State (13.42 percent), Cross River (17.11 percent), and Kwara (17.28 percent).

“Ondo (13.42 percent), Cross River (17.11 percent), and Kwara (17.28 percent) saw the lowest increase in headline inflation on a year-over-year basis in April 2025, while Enugu (35.98 percent), Kebbi (35.13 percent), and Niger (34.85 percent) had the highest AII Items inflation rate,” NBS said.

This occurred while headline inflation in Nigeria fell to 23.7 per cent on average in April.
