The Lagos State Police Command has made significant strides in combating crime, recently rescuing a 14-year-old boy, Hassan, who was kidnapped in the Olodi-Apapa area on May 1, 2025. The kidnappers demanded a N20 million ransom, but swift police action led to the arrest of 25-year-old Musa Shaibu at the designated ransom drop-off point at Total Filling Station, Wema Bridge, Apapa.
Further investigation revealed Hassan’s location in a hotel in Ajegunle, where he was found unharmed and reunited with his family. The hotel manager, 41-year-old Remilekun Ajilola, was arrested and is assisting with ongoing investigations.
In other operations, the police have:
- Arrested Suspects: Apprehended 39 individuals linked to serious crimes, including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child theft, vandalism, and unlawful possession of firearms.
- Rescued Victims: Freed 11 kidnap victims, showcasing the command’s commitment to ensuring citizen safety.
- Foiled Cult Activities: Arrested suspected cultists in Alagbada and Yaba, recovering dangerous weapons and ammunition.
- Recovered Stolen Property: Retrieved a stolen vehicle from three suspects, Oluwafemi Oladapo, Idris Mustapha, and Sefianu Usman, and returned it to its rightful owner.
The Nigeria Police Force has also been working with Interpol to combat cross-border crimes, recently rescuing 25 Ivorian nationals from kidnappers in Ogun State and arresting eight suspects. The police command continues to urge residents to report suspicious activities, ensuring a safer community for allall.
